Johan,
Downloaded logview4net, the code, towards keeping what dotnet skill I have alive, ala’ your keeping your English alive.
For your amusement, I would like to share my trials, as I try to wrap my brain around your tool.
My notes:
1) Grab the source via Subversion.
2) Open with VS2K8 and try to build. Fail
3) Install NUnit and add/update. Success.
4) Run unit tests. Greens!, oh my reds.
For me that was success. As time allows I will get all the unit tests working.
For future, I hope build on top of the tool two functions- 1) as entries are processed, test for match w/ regex expression and 2) if a match do something like send an email, launch a script, log a hit. This all has to be configurable from a GUI so I intend to add persistence via a database.
Maybe some background will set the stage, I have used commercial network management system to do this in the past, MicroMuse, which is overkill. I am a network geek who can speaks Perl, Python and of course DotNet. Give my choice, I write in C# (generics did it).
Really have only one question, what level of involvement would like provide, if any. Not looking for commitment, rather an occasional kick in the right direction as I try to make this work.
